Tara Temple is in her sixth year with the Red Hawks and was promoted from Head Athletic Trainer to Associate Director of Athletics & Recreation for Sports Medicine in February of 2025.

In her new role, Temple provides strategic leadership and oversight for the sports medicine program while contributing to the overall operations and mission of the department. Temple is responsible for ensuring health, safety, and well-being including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. In addition to managing the sports medicine team, she oversees departmental policies related to student-athlete health and wellness, coordinates insurance claims and compliance, and works to enhance the student-athlete experience.

Temple came to MSU following eight years at Stevens Institute of Technology, the last two as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Student-Athlete Wellness where she supervised the sports medicine aspect for all 26 athletic teams, serving nearly 600 student-athletes annually.

While at Stevens, helped expand the Ducks’ department increasing the staff with the addition of new positions as well as an expansion of the medical team. Temple also served on the University’s Care Team for the last three years which provided a support system for students in crisis. She implemented the celebration of National Athletic Training Month that brought in speakers and programming to assist the student athletes with their health and wellness. Temple was assigned to the President’s Mental Health Task Force.

Prior to joining Stevens, Temple spent three years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Saint Francis College in Brooklyn, N.Y. where she provided primary coverage for women’s volleyball, women’s basketball and women’s water polo as well as helping with all of the school’s 19 Division I sports. Temple was also responsible for the organization and implementation of all student-athlete physicals, facility management, rehabilitation and overseeing student interns.

Temple has served as an athletic trainer with a number of sports camps, including the 2011 New York Exposure Camp – a showcase for professional men’s basketball players – and has spent 10 years working with the New York Knicks Summer Basketball Camps and in addition to three years with Triple Threat Lacrosse Camp in Virginia. Temple also served as a graduate assistant at Indiana State University and provided First Aid, Wound Care and drug testing at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in 2007-08 while also serving as a teaching assistant.
 
A 2007 graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a degree in Athletic Training, Temple will completed class work for her master’s in Athletic Training from Indiana State in 2008. She is a member of the NATA and the Eastern Athletic Training Association.
