Gonzalez was named the NJAC Player of the Week honors after averaging 19.0 points per game while being named the Most Valuable Player of MSU's Team Hill Holiday Classic. He opened the tournament by registering 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 shooting from three-point range, while adding two rebounds and two assists in a 104-61 victory over Vaughn that snapped a four-game losing streak for the Red Hawks. One day later in the championship game, he notched 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field, while adding two assists in a 100-73 win over Berkeley.  Gonzalez, who shot .636 (14-of-22) from his guard position in the two wins combined, currently ranks tied for fourth in the NJAC in three-point field goals made per game (1.9).
