No. 5 Red Hawks Pummel Albright, 23-0

Red Hawks Belt Five Homers

Reading, PA – Fifth-ranked Montclair State blasted five homers and scored 20-plus runs for the third time this season as the Red Hawks blanked Albright College, 23-0 on Tuesday.

Montclair (25-3-1) hit double-digits in runs for the 14th time as it racked up 24 hits in the contest. CRAIG CONWAY homered twice and drove in five runs with ADAM CERMINARO also recording five RBI leading the Red Hawks to their 12th straight victory.

The shutout was MSU's third of the season.

Conway set the tone early as he launched a two-run homer in the first when Montclair tallied five times. BRIAN ELLERSON added an RBI double and FRANK FRANCIA collected a sac fly with SEAN MORRISON notching a run-scoring single in the innings.

Ellerson belted a solo homer in the third to make the score 7-0 and the lead grew to 10 in the fifth as JEFF SCHRIBER cleared the bases with a double. Conway and FRANK LONGO also had RBIs in the inning, the latter a two-run single as he extended his hitting streak to 19 games.

SCOTT ALLAN hit a solo home run in the seventh and ADAM CERMINARO cracked a three-run shot during a four-run eighth inning. Cerminaro doubled in two runs in the ninth before Conway hit his second home run, a two-run shot to cap the scoring.

Senior righthander GEORGE GALLAGHER (4-2), who was 4-for-4 with an RBI, picked up the victory going the first five innings allowing six hits. He struck out four and walked two. Allan and Whalen finished off the shutout with two scoreless innings apiece.

Cerminaro, Allan, Ellerson, Morrison, Schriber and SCOTT CLARK all had two hits each for MSU.

The Red Hawks return home to Yogi Berra Stadium for a key NJAC matchup with William Paterson on Thursday, April 27. MSU won the first meeting between the team, 6-3 in Wayne back on March 30.
