Scranton, PA -- Sophomore attacker
SARAH LEVINE (Pequannock, NJ/Pequannock) scored on an unassisted goal at the 93:48 mark of the second sudden victory period to lift Montclair State tp a 2-1 victory over The University of Scranton on Thursday evening.
The win was the 10th in a row for MSU (11-3), while Levine notched her third game-winning OT goal this season.
The Red Hawks took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by
JANEL BERTINI (Erial, NJ/Highland) at the 43:24 mark of the second half. However, the Royals (4-8) tie the game just under four minutes later on a goal by MAUREEN BOLE (West Chester, PA/Villa Maria).
In the first OT period,
LAURA POPES (West Long Branch, NJ/Shore Regional) just missed ending the game as her shot was knocked away by defenser JILLIAN VARLEY (Suffield, CT/Longmeadow-Mass.)
MSU then dodged a bullet in the second OT as
TRISHA WINKLE (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) stopped a penalty shot.
Winkle finished with 16 saves while Scranton goalkeeper KIM REYNOLDS (Larchmont, NY/Mamaroneck) made 15 stops.
Montclair outshot the Royals, 26-20.
