Bellino, Bertini Lead Montclair State Past King's, 3-1

Upper Montclair, NJ - Senior ALI BELLINO (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) scored a pair of goals and JANEL BERTINI (Erial, NJ/Highland) tied a single-game record with three assists as Montclair State won its 11th straight game with a 3-1 win over Kings College (PA) at Sprague Field.

Senior LAURA POPES (West Long Branch, NJ/Shore Regional) had a goal and set the MSU single-season record for points as Montclair (12-3) scored twice in the final 14 minutes of the contest. KELLY PONCHERI (Sugarloaf, PA/Hazelton Area) had a goal for the Lady Monarchs (9-6).

Bellino put the Red Hawks on the board at the 22:28 mark of the first half as she notched her third goal of the season off a penalty corner that got past Kings goalkeeper MELISSA ZEMSKY (Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Township). Poncheri would tie the game five minutes into the second half as she tapped in a rebound. It was the ninth goal of the year for Poncheri.

Montclair State would regain the lead for good with 13:37 to play as Bellino again scored off a penalty corner from the top of the circle. Popes then capped off the scoring with her 17th of the year. The goal gave Popes 37 points on the season, breaking the mark of 36 set by Kristen Eisele in 1997. Bertini assisted on the goal giving her three on the day, tying the mark last accomplished by Bertini herself against New Paltz in September of 2000.

TRISHA WINKLE (Forked River, NJ/Lacey) made three saves in goal for MSU, which outshot the Lady Monarchs, 22-7. Zemsky had nine saves for Kings.
