Upper Montclair, NJ - Junior forward ALISA FEMIA (New Hyde Park, NY/Great Neck) scored off a corner kick at 47:49 to lift New York University to a 1-0 victory over Montclair State in an NCAA Division III Women's Soccer match at Sprague Field on Thursday evening.

BECCA GIEFER (Mahtomedi, MN/Mahtomedi) made two saves and recorded her fourth shutout of the season as the Violets (6-5) avenged their 1-0 loss to the Red Hawks (9-2-3) in the 2000 ECAC Division III Metro Championship Game.

Femia broke the scoreless tie as she scored her second goal of the season. KERRY McCORMICK (Redmond, WA/Inglemoor) took a corner kick and lofted crossing pass that Femia, racing in on the play, knocked into the upper left hand corner.

Montclair had one opportunity to tie the game with 9:17 to play, but KRISTIN WEBER's (Union, NJ/Union) shot was blocked by the Violets' NATALIE SHAEHEEN (Birmingham, MI/Seasholm).

STEPHANIE ROMANKO (N. Brunswick, NJ/N. Brunswick) made seven saves in goal for MSU, which was outshot, 13-9.
