Grantham, PA (10/20/01) -- The Montclair State University field hockey team saw their 12-game winning streak snapped as they fell to Messiah College, 4-1 in the regular-season finale on Saturday.

The loss was the first for the Red Hawks since September 18th. MSU (13-4), which has tied the school record for wins, will now await their post-season fate as bids for the NCAA and ECAC Tournaments are announced on Sunday, October 28 and Monday, October 29, respectively. Last year, Montclair finished runner up in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Tournament.

Senior ALI BELLINO (Allendale, NJ/N. Highlands) tallied the lone Red Hawk goal in the loss. Bellino notched her sixth of the season with 27:55 left in the second half, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

TRISHA WINKLE (Forked River, NJ/Lacey) made 15 saves in goal for Montclair State, which was outshot, 28-8 in the contest. JANEL BERTINI (Erial, NJ/ Highlands) had the assist on the goal giving her 30 for her career.
