LAURA POPES (W. Long Branch, NJ/Shore Regional) notched the game-winning goal just five minutes into overtime to lift the Montclair State University field hockey team to a 2-1 decision over Drew University on Saturday, Nov. 3, in the semifinal round of the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Championships in Washington, D.C.
The Red Hawks (14-4) will face top-seeded host Catholic University, a 1-0 winner over Washington College in the other ECAC semifinal, on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 1:00 p.m. in the title game.

ALI BELLINO (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) opened the scoring against Drew with a goal off a penalty stroke at 11:16 to give the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead. The score remained unchanged until Drew's Kristen Scarpa tied the game with just 2:42 left in regulation for the Rangers. Popes then won it in OT on her sixth shot of the game, as Montclair outshot Drew, 15-10 overall, on the day.
Last year, MSU fell to St. Lawrence University in theECAC title game, 5-1, in Upper Montclair. MSU won the ECAC Championship in 1990.
