Upper Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State University women's soccer team used a five-goal second half to defeat Ramapo College, 6-0, tonight at Sprague Field.

The Red Hawks improved to 13-3-3 overall and 6-2-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play, and also clinched an NJAC Tournament berth. The visiting Roadrunners fell to 8-8-1 overall and 2-6-1 in the conference.

Junior SHANNON HART (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) staked MSU to a 1-0 lead just 3:56 into the game off a pass from freshman SHIRAH ODEH (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes). Odeh put the Red Hawks up, 2-0, at 68:19 to begin a five-goal MSU scoring spree over a span of 20:09. Hart made it 3-0 at 74:46, before senior CHRISTIN CIFELLI (Union, NJ/Union) converted a feed from Odeh for her first goal of the season at 81:54, to go along with Cifelli's two assists on the night.

Junior LU SCARABAGGIO (Iselin, NJ/John F. Kennedy) scored on a long shot at 83:42, before freshman ANNA GIRDWOOD (Beccles, England/Sir John Lehman) closed out the scoring at 88:28 with her first career MSU goal. Prior to the game, MSU honored outgoing seniors Cifelli and DANIELLE MALYSKA (Dayton, NJ/South Brunswick) before closing out its 2001 regular-season home slate with a 6-2-1 mark.

The Red Hawks now travel to Rowan University on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 4:30 p.m. for their first-round NJAC playoff matchup in Glassboro. Rowan topped host MSU, 1-0, back on Sept. 29.
