Glassboro, NJ - The Montclair State University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision today at #2 Rowan University in their semifinal match of the 2001 New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.
The Red Hawks fall to 12-4-3 overall this season, while the Profs improve to 12-4-1 and advance to this year's championship contest against either #1 TCNJ or #4 Stockton.
Montclair will now await to see if they are selected to the ECAC Division III Metro Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, October 31. Last year, MSU won the tournament defeating NYU, 1-0 in the championship game.
Nikki Gambino scored all three goals for Rowan, at 8:31, 68:16 and 83:06 of regulation, with the final two scores being set up by Bethany Christie.
Junior goalkeeper STEPHANIE ROMANKO (N. Brunswick, NJ/N. Brunswick) made 11 saves for the Red Hawks, while Becky Petsch stopped six shots for the Profs. Rowan outshot MSU, 19-14, on the night.
