Upper Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State University men's soccer team today dropped its fourth consecutive contest, this one by a 4-0 count to Kean University at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field. Kean improves to 11-0 overall and 5-0 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play, while Montclair falls to 3-7-1 overall (0-3-1 NJAC).
Kean senior forward MICHAEL IACONO (Boonton, NJ/Boonton) broke a scoreless tie when he converted on a penalty kick at 29:03. Junior back SHAUN JOHNSON (Cranford, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) headed home a corner kick at 35:56 to make it 2-0 for the Cougars, before sophomore midfielder ELDAR ZULIC (Woodbridge, NJ/John F. Kennedy) tallied with 46 seconds remaining in the first half to make it 3-0 at intermission. Kean junior forward RIDOLPHE LORMIL (Irvington, NJ/Irvington) closed out the scoring on a rush down the left side with 2:44 remaining in regulation.
Sophomore goalkeeper BILLY ECKMAN (Jackson, NJ/Jackson) finished with three saves for the Cougars as Kean outshot MSU, 16-10. Senior netminder ALEX LUNA (Newark, NJ/Hudson Catholic) and sophomore goaltender PHILLIP BATTIATO (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) each made three saves in splitting the game for the Red Hawks.
