Union, NJ (10/04/01) - The Montclair State University field hockey team tonight won its seventh straight game, rebounding from a pair of one-goal deficits for a 3-2 win at Kean University.
The Red Hawks are now 8-3 overall (.727) and 2-2 in NJAC play.
LAURA POPES pulled MSU into a 1-1 tie early in the first half as she broke the single-season record for goals with her 14th goal of the season. Popes broke the mark of 13 set by Kristen Eisele in 1997.
After the host Cougars regained the lead early in the second half, Megan Ulicny and
ANDREA ULICNY tallied back-to-back goals, the latter with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation, to propel MSU to victory in its first game since Sept. 30 and its first conference contest since Sept. 22.
The Red Hawks return to action at home on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1:00 p.m. against Eastern (PA) College at Sprague Field. Montclair is 3-1 at home this season, and 6-1 in non-conference games overall. Last year, Eastern edged MSU, 2-1, in their only meeting.
