Upper Montclair, NJ - MALIK COPELAND scored a game-high 31 points as Medgar Evers College knocked off Montclair State, 76-68 in the opening round of the Point Construction Tip-Off Tournament at Panzer Gymansium this evening.
JEBAH CLAYTON added 16 points for the Cougars (1-0), who will face SUNY Cortland in the Championship Game at 7:30 pm. MSU (0-1) will face FDU-Madison in the Conoslation Game at 5:30 pm.

JOEY MATIAS (Union City, NJ/Emerson) had 16 points to lead Montclair State, which ralied back from an 11-point deficit in the second half to tie the game at 57-57 with 6:26 to play. The Cougars then responded by scoring the next nine points, including the final six by Copeland.
OMAR BOOTHE (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) had six points, six rebounds and five blocked shots to become the all-time leader at MSU for career blocks. Boothe has 119 surpassing the mark of Keith Hines from 1992-1994.
In the first game, JON DeHAY scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds as Cortland rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat FDU, 63-58. JEFF HEMSCHOOT finished with 14 points to lead the Devils (0-1), who scored just 18 points over the final 20 minutes and were limited to 6-of-28 shooting.
