Upper Montclair, NJ -- Senior guard KATHY BARBERI (Whitestone, NY/Francis Lewis) scored 14 points and added 13 rebounds as Montclair State defeated William Paterson, 63-54 in New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Basketball action at Panzer Gymnasium this evening.
JASMINE BATTS (Careret, NJ/Carteret) added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Red Hawks (3-2, 2-1 NJAC), who used an 12-0 run in the second half en route to the victory.
HEATHER NEDO (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) and KAT McPHAIL (Sparta, NJ/Hopatcong) each had 11 points for William Paterson (0-5, 0-3), which shot just 8-of-27 (29 percent) in the second half.
William Paterson led 27-25 at halftime, and led 29-25 just over a minute into the second half when the Red Hawks began their run. STEPHANIE CROLEY (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) started the spurt with a layup and Barberi hit a jumper to tie the game at 29-29. Batts then gave MSU the lead for good with a layup before DIONNE FLEMING (Jersey City, NJ/St. Anthony's) scored for a 33-29 Red Hawk advantage with 16:47 left. Batts then scored four straight points to give MSU a 37-29 lead with 13:55 to go.
