Rowan Tops Montclair State, 63-53

Glassboro, NJ -- The Montclair State University men's basketball team dropped a 63-53 decision at Rowan University on Saturday, Dec. 1. The Red Hawks are now 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

MSU took a 12-3 lead in the opening minutes, but then Rowan pulled ahead with a 16-6 run and entered halftime with a 32-27 advantage. The host Profs then scored the first six points of the second stanza and maintained at least a 10-point lead the rest of the evening en route to their fourth win of the campaign.

MSU freshman guard JOEY MATIAS (Union City, NJ) paced all scorers with 20 points, hitting three three-point shots and notching five steals while sinking all seven of his free throws. He also recorded a team-high five rebounds along with senior forward DARIUS SKEETE (Union, NJ). Junior guard JOSEPH THOMAS (Linden, NJ) registered six assists for the Red Hawks.

TYLEE THOMAS led Rowan with 15 points, eight assists and 7-of-8 free-throw shooting. ROBERT FERGUSON and CHRIS YOUNG each had eight rebounds for the Profs, with Ferguson also collecting a team-best five steals.
