Upper Montclair, NJ -- The Montclair State University men's basketball team overcame a 34-29 halftime deficit to defeat Kean University, 92-85, in double overtime on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Panzer Gymnasium. MSU is now 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Junior guard
JOSEPH THOMAS (Linden, NJ) paced the Red Hawks with a career-best 26 points and 10 rebounds while also recording five assists and three steals. He scored seven points in each overtime period.
Senior guard
OMAR BOOTHE (Teaneck, NJ) contributed 21 points, eight rebounds and three assists to the MSU cause while senior
DARIUS SKEETE (Union, NJ) finished with 14 points for MSU before fouling out. Freshman Brandon Bracey (Linden, NJ) came off the bench in the second half to help ignite Montclair with seven points and two steals in his Red Hawk basketball debut.
The victory was MSU's first in overtime since a 78-75 win at Richard Stockton College in the 2000 ECAC Division III Metro NY/NJ Championship game.
