SCOTT ALLAN helped himself not only on the mound but at the plate leading Montclair State to an 11-5 win over The College of New Jersey at Ackerman Park on Friday afternoon.
Allan improved to 4-0 on the year and also finished 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI as the Red Hawks (25-8, 15-1 NJAC) nailed down the top-seed in next week's NJAC Tournament with its 11
th straight victory and 19
th in its last 21 games.
Allan, who last year, defeated the Lions (19-10-1, 11-5 NJAC) in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional championship game, did it again as he went 7/1 innings allowing five runs and 11 hits, striking out three and walking three. Left-hander
JASON ARRE struck out two in registering the last five outs for his first save. Justin Kiser (1-3) took the loss for TCNJ.
Allan was able to get the victory thanks to an offense that scored double digits for the third consecutive game and 14
th time this season as it recorded 18 hits in the contest.
SCOTT CLARK, who also homered and had three RBI, had three hits, as did
CHRIS BARAN and
GEORGE BECKER.
DAVE WURST and
SEAN MORRISON accounted for two apiece.
Allan gave Montclair State a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run shot and singled in two more in the fifth as the Red Hawks led 5-1. TCNJ got a run back in the sixth on Sergio Sencion's RBI single however, Clark blasted a three-run homer to left in the seventh for an 8-2 advantage.
Freshman shortstop
P.J. BACCARELLA collected an RBI single in the eighth widening the lead to seven runs, however the Lions mounted a rally and got within 9-5 on a two-run single by pinch-hitter Gregory Martinez. Arre was summoned from the bullpen and limited any further damage retiring the two hitters he faced on a pop up and strike out, respectively.
Arre retired TCNJ in order in the ninth after MSU tacked on two runs in the top of the inning. Baran drove in voth of them with a double to left-center scoring

Montclair State closes out its NJAC slate on Saturday, April 28 with a doubleheader at Yogi Berra Stadium against local rival William Paterson.
