Upper Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State University field hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting William Paterson University tonight at Sprague Field. The loss drops Montclair to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play, while Paterson improves to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in conference action.

WPU then regained the lead as Hinshillwood connected unassisted at 30:29 for the game-winning goal, scoring from 11 yards out from the right side while falling down. MSU pressed for the tying goal for most of the second half, only to see Hinshillwood close out the scoring with a shot from the doorstep at 59:13. Senior KATIE HIGGINS (Wantage, NJ/High Point) and sophomore HEATHER AQUINO (Somerville, NJ/Somerville) both drew assists on the final goal of the evening.
