New Paltz, NY - LAURA POPES (Long Branch, NJ) netted a hat trick and SARAH LEVINE (Pequannock, NJ/Pequannock) added two goals as Montclair State posted its third straight win with a 5-1 victory over SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday.

Popes has scored six goals in her last three games and now has nine on the season, just four shy of the single season mark of 13 set by Kristen Eisele in 1997.

Montclair State trailed 1-0 before Popes tied the game at with 16:40 to play in the opening half. Levine then gave the Red Hawks (4-3) the lead for good as she scored just before halftime.

Montclair then took over in the second half as Levine notched her second of the game and fourth of the season just over two minutes into the period. Popes then made it a 4-1 lead with 20:31 remaining and capped off her hat trick with her ninth goal at 54:12 of the contest.

TRISHA WINKLE (Forked River, NJ) made seven saves to earn the victory. ANDREA ULICNY (Edgewood, NJ), ALI BELLINO (Allendale, NJ) and MELISSA HERBERT (Somerville, NJ) each had assists for Montclair State, which outshot New Paltz, 20-8.
