Ramapo Pushes Past Women's Basketball

Upper Montclair, NJ -- CARLA COLUCCI (Emerson, NJ/Emerson) scored a game-high 22 points as Ramapo College posted a 60-50 victory over Montclair State in New Jersey Athletic Conference women's basketball action at Panzer Gymansium this evening.

TARA LARKIN (Mendham, NJ/Morris Mendham) added 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Roadrunners (11-1, 6-1 NJAC), who have won three straight. JASMINE BATTS (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Red Hawks (5-8, 2-5 NJAC), who have lost three of their last four.

Ramapo, which went scoreless for nearly six minutes in the second half, led by as many as 17 points in the final period as KATIE ARCURI (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) scored on a layup for a 48-31 lead with 14:51 to play. But Montclair scored 13 of the game's next 17 points to cut the lead to 52-44 with 2:34 left. Batts had five points in the run, however, MSU could get no closer a Colucci, Larkin and Arcuri combined to hit six free throws down the stretch.

Colucci scored 14 and Larkin had 11 in the first half as the Roadrunners built a nine-point halftime lead. Trailing 10-9 with 12:50 to play in the opening period, Arcuri began a 17-5 run with a three-pointer to put Ramapo on top. After the Red Hawks tied the game, Colucci scored eight of the next 10 Ramapo points for a 22-15 lead with 5:54 to go. Colucci would give the Roadrunners their largest lead of the half, 30-17, as she buried a jumper from the left side with 2:37 remaining. MSU would cut the lead to eight as DIONNE FLEMING (Jersey City, NJ/St. Anthony's) sank a pair of free throws, however, Arcuri nailed a three-pointer with 33 seconds to make the score 35-24.

DYETTE DILLARD (Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro) had seven points and 11 rebounds for MSU, which shot just 26 percent (18-of-68) from the field. Montclair outrebounded the Roadrunners, 55-40, including 22-9 on the offensive glass. Arcuri had 16 points and six rebounds.
