Upper Montclair, NJ (10/22/02) - JIHAN GIRARD-ISAAC (Brooklyn, NY/Christ the King) and EVELINA TRZECIAK (Monroe, NJ/Monroe) each collected 14 kills as Kean University topped Montclair State, 3-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference women's volleyball action on Tuesday evening.

IOWANA JANIAK (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) added 12 kills and 25 digs for the Cougars (19-15, 3-4 NJAC), who defeated Montclair State (12-13, 3-5 NJAC) for the second time this season. Kean also posted a 3-0 win over MSU at the DeSales Volleyball Invitational.

The loss eliminated Montclair State from contention for the NJAC Volleyball Tournament. The best the Red Hawks can do is tie with William Paterson and/or Kean for the final spot. Montclair would be eliminated against either because they fell to both Kean and William Paterson.

Flavia Vega (Belen, Brazil/Sophos) and STACEY JOHNSON (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County Tech) had 11 kills apiece for Montclair State. JESSICA ROEBER (Kingston, NY/Kingston) had 40 assists and 15 digs for Kean while Janiak added 25 digs. LORI CHRISTENSEN (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) led all players with 29 digs.

JENNIFER OLAN (Jersey City, NJ/McNair Academy) had 25 assists, four aces and 23 digs for the Red Hawks with Veiga collecting 20 digs and two block solos.
