Women's Soccer Wins Fifth Straight; Tops Ramapo 3-0

Mahwah, NJ (10/23/02) – The Montclair State University women's soccer team won its fifth straight game in today's 3-0 victory at Ramapo College of New Jersey in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest. The Red Hawks, who have won all five games during the streak by shutout, are now 8-4-2 overall and 4-1-1 in NJAC play.

MontclairState took a 2-0 lead in the first 16 minutes of play on goals by freshman midfielder KELLY DUTKO (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and junior KRISTIN WEBER (Union, NJ/Union), with sophomore SHIRAH ODEH (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) assisting on Weber's goal. For Dutko and Weber, their goals were their second goals of the season, for both players.

Sophomore forward STEPHANIE SABALIAUSKAS (Edison, NJ/Mt. St. Mary Academy), who assisted on the first Red Hawk goal, closed out the scoring in the 59th minute with her team-leading seventh goal of the season.Three-time NJAC Player of the Week STEPHANIE ROMANKO (No. Brunswick, NJ/No. Brunswick) had one save for MSU in recording her ninth shutout this fall, as Montclair outshot Ramapo, 18-2.

The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, Oct. 26, at The College of New Jersey at 7:00 p.m. in Ewing, NJ.
