Upper Montclair, NJ (10/26/02) - The Montclair State University men's soccer team lost today to The College of New Jersey, 3-1, at Sprague Field. The Red Hawks are now 9-5-2 on the season, and 2-4-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play. TCNJ, which snapped a four-game winless skid with the victory, is now 8-5-3 overall and 4-2-1 in the conference, six points ahead of Montclair State for fifth place in the NJAC standings.
The visiting Lions took a 1-0 lead just 1:40 into the contest on a goal in close by junior forward JOE SCHNECK (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape). The score held up until classmate EVRAN ASRAL (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) fired home a loose ball in front at 57:21 for a 2-0 TCNJ lead. Sophomore midfielder ADRIAN BOSALASCO (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) headed in an airborne ball with 6:16 remaining in regulation to pull Montclair within 2-1, but TCNJ sophomore ADAM COOPER (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) connected four minutes later for the Lions to close out the scoring. Bosalasco's goal was MSU's first score since a 6-0 win over Centenary College exactly one week ago, in a game also played at Sprague Field.
Montclair will seek to snap a three-game winless string when it visits New Jersey City University on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 3:00 p.m.
