Upper Montclair, NJ (10/30/02) --- The Montclair State University women's soccer team won for the fifth time in its last six outings with an 8-0 decision over visiting New Jersey City University tonight at Sprague Field in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest.
Montclair State improves to 9-5-2 overall this season and 5-2-1 in NJAC play, while NJCU, which had a three-game winning streak snapped, falls to 5-12 overall and 0-7 in the conference.

STEPHANIE SABALIAUSKAS (Edison, NJ/Mt. St. Mary Academy) paced the Red Hawks with her second hat trick this season, scoring all three of her goals in just over ten minutes of the first half as MSU built a 5-0 lead. Sabaliauskas, who also recorded an assist, now leads Montclair with 10 goals and 24 points in 16 outings.
Classmate SHIRAH ODEH (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) scored MSU's first and third goals on the night, while sophomore SUSAN HINDS (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) made it 6-0 before the end of the first half.
Freshman midfielder JESS AMENDOLA (Union, NJ/Union) scored just over eight minutes into the second half to make it 7-0 before Hinds closed out the scoring in the 83rd minute of play. Freshman forward KELLY DUTKO (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) had two assists for the Red Hawks, while taking 17 of MSU's 19 corner kicks.
Freshman GINA SGROI (Lyndhurst, NJ/Lyndhurst) finished with 10 saves for the Gothic Knights. MSU senior goalkeeper STEPHANIE ROMANKO (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) recorded her 10th shutout of the season and 43rd of her Red Hawk career despite not making any saves as MSU outshot NJCU, 32-0.
Romanko, who already holds Montclair State career records for wins, shutouts and saves made, tied the school mark by playing in her 81st career game tonight. It was also her final regular-season home game at Sprague Field, along with senior defender LU SCARABAGGIO (Iselin, NJ/John F. Kennedy).
Montclair now visits Richard Stockton College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Pomona, NJ to close out the regular season. MSU and Stockton played to a scoreless tie in September 2001 before the Red Hawks later registered a double-overtime 1-0 victory over the Ospreys in the 2001 ECAC Metro Tournament.
