Women's Soccer Tops No. 14 Stockton, 1-0

Pomona, NJ (11/02/02) --- The Montclair State University women's soccer team concluded the 2002 regular season with a 1-0 win today at 14th-ranked Richard Stockton College in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest.

The Red Hawks improved to 10-5-2 overall and 6-2-1 in NJAC play, winning for the sixth time in seven outings. The win helped MSU finish third in the conference. Montclair State will play at second-seeded William Paterson on Nov. 5 to open the NJAC Tournament.

Montclair State won despite not scoring the game-winning goal. Scoreless in the 55th minute. GABBY WHITE (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) served a free kick into the penalty area from 35 yards out. The ball skipped off a Stockton defender Katie Rudolph's head into the goal for the only score of the contest.

STEPHANIE ROMANKO (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) mae four saves to earn her 11th shutout of the season Romanko has allowed just one goal in six career games, which include three overtime contests..

The Red Hawks won for the seventh time in their last eight games snapped Stockton's nine-game winning streak.
