West Deptford, NJ (10/05/02) –The Montclair State University women's soccer team tallied the game's lone goal with 9:38 remaining in regulation to top rival Rowan University, 1-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest this evening.
Freshman midfielder JESS AMENDOLA (Union, NJ/Union) scored in the 81st minute of play for the Red Hawks (4-4-2, 2-1-1 NJAC), off a setup by classmate KAYLIN VAN BROOKHAVEN (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo). MSU, which outshot Rowan, 10-6, on the night, thus avenged a 1-0 loss to the Profs last season in Upper Montclair. Rowan is now 8-3-1 overall and 2-2 in NJAC play this fall.
Montclair State senior goalkeeper STEPHANIE ROMANKO (N. Brunswick, NJ/N. Brunswick) made two saves in notching her fifth shutout of the season and the 38th whitewash of her collegiate career, adding to her all-time school record.
