Scranton, PA (9/11/02) - The Montclair State University men's soccer team stretched its winning streak to five games overall dating back to last season with a 2-0 triumph today at the University of Scranton. The streak began with MSU's 4-3 win over the Royals in the 2001 season finale last October in Upper Montclair.
Senior forward ATIBA YUSUF (Newark, NJ) scored both Red Hawk goals today at Scranton, the first one off a steal at 68:01 and the second one at 81:49 off a feed from freshman forward JESSEN VAN SYCKLE (Harrison, NJ). Yusuf now leads MSU (4-0) with four goals and eight points in four outings.
Sophomore goalkeeper CHRIS OWEN (Pompton Lakes, NJ) finished with five saves for Montclair in recording his third shutout this season, as the Royals outshot the Red Hawks, 14-10.
Montclair is now off until Monday, Sept. 16, when it visits Gwynedd-Mercy (PA) College at 4:00 p.m.
