Gwynedd Valley, PA (9/16/02) - The Montclair State University men's soccer team saw its season-opening four-game winning streak come to a close with a 1-0 loss today at Gwynedd Mercy College.

The host Griffins scored the game's only goal in the 15th minute of play and held on for the victory despite being outshot, 28-3, by the Red Hawks. Brian Payne knocked in a shot off a throw-in pass from Frank Stiefel.

Sophomore goaltender CHRIS OWEN (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) made one save for Montclair, which had won five consecutive contests dating back to the 2001 season finale.
