Wayne, NJ (9/18/02) - The Montclair State University field hockey team rebounded from its first loss of the year with a 1-0 win tonight at New Jersey Athletic Conference rival William Paterson University.

LEA SMITH (Littlestown, PA/Littlestown) off a corner.

TRISHA WINKLE (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) stopped eight shots as MSU outshot WPU, 11-10, and improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in NJAC play. It was Winkle's third shutout of the season, and the 10th of her MSU career.
The Red Hawks also outcornered the Pioneers (4-1, 0-1 NJAC) by an 18-5 margin. Sophomore netminder Kelly Harchetts stopped seven shots for WPU, which defeated MSU, 3-1, exactly one year ago at Sprague Field.
