Wilkes-Barre, PA (10/18/03) – The Montclair State volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday as the Red Hawks fell to Kings College (PA) and Wilkes University in tri-match held at Kings College in Pennsylvania..
MSU, which has lost three in a row, fell to Kings, 3-0 with game scores of 30-23, 30-28, 30-13. The Red Hawks (7-25) also lost to Wilkes in three games - 30-20, 30-26, 30-14.
Senior
CARMEN ALVARADO (Newark, NJ/Barringer) led the way for Montclair State in the two losses as she collected 16 kills, eight service aces and nine digs. Alvarado had nine kills, five service aces and seven digs. Freshman
ASIA LIVINGSTON (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County Tech) added six kills while
KELLY MCGUIRE (Upper Saddle River, NJ/No. Highlands) had a team-high eight digs.
In the loss to Wilkes, Alavarado had seven kills with Livingston and
BROOKSHIELD LAURENT (East Orange, NJ/Marylawn) each recording six. Alvarado had three service aces while
JOANA CORTEZ (Paterson, NJ/East Side) led the Red Hawks with seven digs. Setter
JENNIFER OLAN (Jersey City, NJ/McNair Academy) had 19 assists and 39 in the two matches.
The Red Hawks return to action next Saturday, October 25th as Montclair State will be at Baruch College in New York. MSU will take on Baruch as well Hunter College and Stevens Tech. Earlier this season, MSU lost to the Ducks, 3-0 in the NJAC/Skyline Crossover on August 30th.
