Upper Montclair, NJ (10/07/03) – The Montclair State University volleyball team swept its second straight home New Jersey Athletic Conference match tonight, defeating visiting Ramapo College, 3-0, at Panzer Gymnasium. The Red Hawks defeated the Roadrunners by scores of 30-24, 30-28 and 30-24.
MSU is now 7-22 overall and 2-4 in NJAC play, while Ramapo falls to 3-12 on the year and 0-4 in the conference. Montclair defeated New Jersey City University, 3-0, in its last home match back on Sept. 16, and has won two straight matches overall, having bested St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 3-1, back on Oct. 4 in its last outing to date. MSU is also 2-1 at home so far this season.

JENNIFER OLAN (Jersey City, NJ/Academic) paced MSU with 29 assists, while senior hitter
CARMEN ALVARADO (Newark, NJ/Barringer) led the Red Hawks with 13 kills and sophomore hitter
BROOKSHIELD LAURENT (East Orange, NJ/Marylawn) had 10 kills and tied for the team lead with three block assists. Sophomore
JOANA CORTEZ (Paterson, NJ/East Side) posted a team-high eight digs while freshman
ASIA LIVINGSTON (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County Tech) and classmate
JANIRE LEBRON (West New York, NJ/Memorial) recorded a team-best four service aces apiece.
Sophomore
KELLY MCGUIRE (Upper Saddle River, NJ/No. Highlands) finished with a solo block, three assists, four digs and three kills for the Red Hawks.
MSU is now off until visiting Kean University a week from tonight on Oct. 14 in Union, NJ. The Red Hawks' last home match is slated for Oct. 28 against Rutgers-Camden.
