Hackettstown, NJ (10/9/03) ---The Montclair State University men's soccer team improved to 10-1-2 overall this year with today's 6-1 victory at Centenary College. Freshman forward Illyas Tasci (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) led the way for the Red Hawks, scoring three of Montclair's six goals as MSU won its third straight game.
Tasci opened the scoring for MSU at 37:04, before making it a 2-0 game with his second tally of the afternoon just 69 seconds later. Sophomore forward

JUAN PEREZ (Dover, NJ/Bayley-Ellard) scored 20 seconds later for a 4-0 MSU advantage, and freshman midfielder
BENITO FERNANDEZ (Harrison, NJ/Harrison) added a fifth goal for Montclair at 51:44 before Centenary's Jason Austin scored just under a minute later to break the shutout for the host Cyclones (1-10-1). Tasci then closed out the scoring at 86:47 with his third goal of the game.
Senior goalkeeper Philip Battiato (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) made one save on two shots in playing the entire game for Montclair, which outshot Centenary by a 16-3 margin. MSU also took eight of the nine corner kicks in the match.
The Red Hawks return home on Saturday, Oct. 11, to host Villa Julie (MD) at 1:00 p.m. at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field. The two teams played to a scoreless tie last season in Maryland.
