JODI GANGEMI (Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) scored seven times as the Montclair State women's lacrosse team evened its record with 14-7 victory over Methodist College (NC) at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

CATHY HOMIEK (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) added two goals and six assists for the Red Hawks (1-1), who gave new head coach Beth Gottung her first career victory.
Montclair State trailed 1-0 in the sixth minute as Methodist's Emily Neilson scored. However, the Red Hawks responded with three straight goals, including two by Gangemi in just 19 seconds. Homiek's goal made it 3-2 by Methodist would re-tie the game at 9:43 on a goal by Jen White.
But the Red Hawks exploded for five consectuvie scores to build an 8-3 lead with just under six minutes to go in the half. Gangemi began the scoring with her third goal at the 11:02 mark and
LISA D'ARIES (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) made the score 5-3 with her first tally of the season.
Gangemi then added two more goals with 10:36 to play n the half for a 7-3 MSU lead and
ANGELA GIAMPINO boosted the lead to 8-3 with her second goal of the season at the 20:52 mark.
LISA SMICKLO (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) made 14 saves in goal for the Red Hawks, which scored 14 goals on 21 shots attempted.
The Red Hawks will host Puget Sound (WA) in their home opener on Monday, March 17 at 4:00 pm.
