Hoboken, NJ (08/30/03) - The Montclair State University volleyball team opened up its 2003 season winning one of three matches at the NJAC-Skyline Conference Crossover held at Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday.
The Red Hawks (1-2) won their first match defeating St. Joseph's (Patchogue) in five games. MSU was then swept by host Stevens Tech and Farmingdale State.
Junior 
TIFFANY ACIZ (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) paced the way for Montclair as she collected 36 kills, 35 assists, six service aces and 10 digs. Sister 
HEATHER ACIZ (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) put together a solid effort in her first collegiate contests, collecting 21 kills and 17 digs. Sophomore 
KELLY MCGUIRE (Upper Saddle River, NJ/Northern Highlands), last season's leader in aces, recorded 12 in the three matches. Aciz was named to the All-Tournament Team as the NJAC went 2-7 against the Skyline Conference.
Against Patchogue, MSU fell behind two-games- to-one before rallying to take the final two games, including a 15-8 verdict in the deciding game. 
TIFFANY ACIZ had 17 kills and 17 assists while freshman 
ASIA LIVINGSTON (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County Tech) and senior 
CARMEN ALVARADO (Newark, NJ/Barringer) had nine and eight kills, respectively.
The Aciz sisters had 10 kills apiece in the loss to Stevens as the Red Hawks dropped the match, 30-25, 30-22 and 30-26. 
TIFFANY ACIZ added 12 assists while 
JANIRE LEBRON (West New York, NJ/Memorial) had five aces and six digs.
Montclair State completed the day with a 31-29, 30-21 and 30-20 loss to Farmingdale State. 
TIFFANY ACIZ had nine kills and six assists in the game. 
JENNIFER OLAN (Jersey City, NJ/McNair Academy) had nine assists to lead the Red Hawks while 
HEATHER ACIZ had seven digs.
The Red Hawks return to action on Friday and Saturday, September 5th-6th as they will compete in the Allegheny Invitational held at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania..
