Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rowan Shuts Out Men's Soccer, 3-0

Montclair, NJ (10/16/04) - Sophomore forward Dwayne Reevey tallied two second-half goals and sophomore midfielder Soung Foon Choa set up all three scores as Rowan University shut out Montclair State, 3-0, today at MSU Soccer Park in a New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer match.

The host Red Hawks, ranked 19th in NCAA Division III, fall to 10-3-2 overall and 3-2-1 in NJAC play, while the visiting Profs improve to 12-2-2 on the year and 5-0-1 in the conference. Rowan has now also won seven straight games dating back to Sept. 25, and is unbeaten in its last eight contests since Sept. 22.

Sophomore back Robert McMullen opened the scoring at 24:27 when he took a pass from Choa and scored from the left side. The score remained unchanged until Choa set up Reevey for a pair of in-close tallies, the first coming from the left side at 63:19 and the second from the right side at 65:54.

Sophomore netminder Anthony Clemente finished with three saves for the Profs, who recoded their fourth shutout of the campaign. MSU junior goalkeeper CHRIS OWEN made four saves before giving way with 8:27 left to classmate EDGARD DINTEN, who made two stops in relief.

Rowan outshot Montclair on the day, 23-11. Today's game marked MSU's first loss at home this year, and was also the first time the Red Hawks, now winless in their last three outings since Oct. 9, have been shut out this season.

Montclair will try to get back on track a week from today against visiting Rutgers-Camden at 1:00 p.m. in their regular-season home finale, while Rowan will host Lincoln (PA) University on Oct. 20 in Glassboro.
