Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Downs Green Mountain College

Poultney, VT (10/24/04) - Senior midfielder STEPHANIE SABALIAUSKAS remained on a roll as she netted her second straight hat trick in helping the Montclair State women's soccer team post its third consecutive victory with a 4-0 triumph over Green Mountain College.

Senior SHIRAH ODEH added a goal and an assist as the Red Hawks improved to 8-7-1 this season.

Odeh gave MSU a 1-0 lead at the 24:27 mark as she knocked in a corner kick pass from KELLY DUTKO for her second tally of the season. The Red Hawks held the one-goal margin into halftime.

In the second half, Sabaliauskas exploded for the second straight day with three times. The first came at 54:35 as she converted a pair of touches from JESS AMENDOLA and LAUREN KOWALSKI. Sabaliauskas extended the lead to 3-0 just over eight minutes later off an assist from GABBY WHITE and capped off her day with her third score at 71:05.
The scoring outburst gave the senior six goals and two assists (14 points) in the last two games and moved her into third place on the MSU scoring list with 93 points. Sabaliauskas surpassed Linda Hadshinow (90 points from 1990-93) for the No. 3 position.

Sophomore keeper KRISTIN KUHMANN posted her fifth shutout of the season. MSU outshot Green Mountain 19-5 in the contest.

The Red Hawks close out their conference slate this Wednesday as they host Rutgers-Newark at Sprague Field at 7:00 pm. MSU, the No. 3 seed, will then host sixth-seeded Rutgers-Camden in the opening round of the 2004 NJAC Women's Soccer Tournament on Saturday, October 30.
