La Plume, PA (12/17/04) - Christina Addison scored 22 points and Tawana Tucker added 19 as Chowan College put together a solid shooting effort in a 77-65 victory over Montclair State in the opening round of the Hilton-Keystone Classic on Friday evening.
Joi Hazel added 17 points and five rebounds for Chowan, which will face host Keystone in the championship game on Saturday, December 18 at 3:00 pm.
Sophomore foward
STEPHANIE MACHIN had 23 points and four rebounds for Montclair State (5-4), which will take on Maine-Ft. Kent in the consolation game at 1:00 pm.
Chowan converted over half of their attempts in each period as it finished the game shooting 31-of-57 from the floor (54 percent) while making good on 11-of-15 attempts at the free throw line. Chowan held a huge rebounding edge in the game, grabbing 44 to the Red Hawks 28. Tucker led all players with 11 rebounds.
Freshman guard
JESSICA GARRABRANT posted her first career double-double and came within two assists of a triple-double as she finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.
