Elizabethtown, PA (04/9/04) - Despite being held to its lowest goal total this season, the Montclair State women's lacrosse team won their school-record seventh straight with a 12-5 victory over Elizabethtown on Friday afternoon.

CATHY HOMIEK (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) had a goal and eight assists as MSU stayed unbeaten and improved to 7-0. The seven wins are just two shy of the single-season record set in 2001 when Montclair posted a 9-6 mark.
Homiek's nine points in the game gave her 308 for her career as she became the 29th player in Division III history to reach the 300-point plateau. Homiek, also recorded her 100th career goal in the game, is currently 25th all-time on the scoring list, one point out of 24th place.

BRIANNA GILLIN (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) scored on an assist from Homiek, who then scored an unassisted goal at 7:56. Jen Manns (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) scored on a Liz Fretz (Parkerford, PA/Owen J. Roberts) assist at 9:05 to give Etown its first goal. At 19:19, Etown tied the score at 3-3 as Ally Edel (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) scored on another Fretz assist. Montclair State took a 5-3 lead into halftime as
NICOLE LAROCCA (Shamong, NJ/Shawnee) scored twice at 21:53 and 23:55 on assists by Homiek.
There was no scoring for the first 17 minutes of the second half, until Gillin broke the silence with a goal at 47:06 off another Homiek assist. By the time five minutes were left in the game, the Red Hawks had pulled ahead to a 10-3 lead.
Odessa Armstrong (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) struck back for Etown at 56:20 with her second goal of the game, and a Sarah Scholl (Forest Hill, MD/John Carroll School) goal for Etown at 57:45 cut Montclair State's lead to 10-5. The visiting Red Hawks then scored two more goals in the final 1:40, as Gillin and
ERIN BALINT (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) scored. Armstrong led Etown in goals scored with two, and Fretz had team highs of two assists and four draw controls. Michelle Collier (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) led Etown in ground balls with five, and Stephanie Boyle (Folsom, PA/Ridley) led the Blue Jays in caused turnovers with four. Etown goaltender Kelly O'Connor (Newtown, CT/Westover School) made 13 saves in the Blue Jay net, including nine in the first half alone.

The Red Hawks return to action on Monday, April 12 as they face Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ beginning at 4:00 pm. The game is a reschedule from April 3 which was postponed due to rain and unplayable field conditions.
