Baltimore, MD (09/11/04) - Sophomore RYAN MORGAN (right) scored both goals as the Montclair State men's soccer team captured their second straight in-season tournament as the Red Hawks edged Guilford (NC), 2-1, to claim the Alumni Invitational at Johns Hopkins University on Sunday afternoon.

MSU and host Johns Hopkins each finished tied with 2-0 records. However, the Red Hawks (3-0-1) were awarded the title based on goals scored in the tournament. Last weekend, Montclair captured the Wellesley Inn Cup at MSU Soccer Park.

Morgan was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player and the Red Hawks saw four players named to the All-Tournament Team - CHRIS OWEN, KYLE HUGHES, MIKE HOGAN and SHELDON WILSON.

Morgan gave Montclair a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute as he headed in a pass from ILYAS TASCI. MSU took the advantage into halftime.

In the 61st minute, Guilford tied the game as Matt Feraci dribbled past two defenders and beat Owen to knot the score at 1-1. Montclair did not wait long to go back in front as Morgan netted his second of the game off a long feed from Wilson.

Owen made eight saves to preserve the lead and victory for the Red Hawks.

Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, September 15 as the Red Hawks complete thei road trip with a contest at John Jay College. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm.
