Women's Soccer Notches Second Straight Shutout in Win Over Kean

Montclair, NJ (09/25/04) – The Montclair State University women's soccer team got two goals from senior forward STEPHANIE SABALIAUSKAS in blanking Kean University, 4-0, today at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.

MSU is now 2-4 overall and 2-0 in NJAC play. The Red Hawks, who topped William Paterson, 4-0, in their last game here on Sept. 22, improved to 2-4 overall and 2-1 in NJAC play this fall, while the visiting Cougars fell to 4-2 on the year and 1-1 in the conference.

MSU senior forward LIZ D'ALTO broke a scoreless tie at 52:45 with her team-leading third goal of the fall, before classmate Sabaliauskas tallied the first of her two goals of this season, assisted by junior midfielder LAUREN KOWALSKI at 62:43. MSU junior middie JESS AMENDOLA scored her second goal in as many games at 70:55 off a feed from Sabaliauskas, before Sabaliauskas herself closed out the scoring at 86:43, converting a corner kick by junior forward KELLY DUTKO.

Sophomore goalkeeper KRISTIN KUHMANN finished with six saves in recording her second straight shutout for Montclair, while sophomore netminder Jenny Lykin made eight stops for the Cougars. MSU outshot Kean, 18-14, and also held the edge in corner kicks (5-2).

The Red Hawks return to action on Monday, Sept. 27, at New York University, while Kean visits William Paterson that same day in an NJAC match.
