Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer, Ramapo Tie 1-1

Montclair, NJ (10/1/05) – Montclair State junior forward DARA NALVEN scored the first goal and Ramapo junior Meghan Farrell answered with a penalty kick as the Red Hawks and Roadrunners played to a 1-1 tie in New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Soccer action at MSU Soccer Park on Saturday afternoon.

Christy Turner made five saves for Ramapo, which is now 5-4-3 overall, 1-2-2 in the NJAC following the draw. KRISTIN KUHMANN had eight saves for the Red Hawks (4-4-1, 2-2-1 NJAC).

Nalven put Montclair State on the board at the 14:33 mark as she collected a loose ball on the left side of the scoring area and fired a shot from a difficult angle over the head of Turner for her third of the season.

However, the Red Hawk lead did not last long as just under four minutes later MSU was whistled for a hand ball in the scoring area. Farrell then stepped to the line and knocked in a shot for her third of the season. From there the game became 92 minutes of scoreless soccer although each team had several opportunities to take the lead. Kuhmann stopped Lindsay Kotula on a 1-on-1 chance at 73:25 and Turner made two saves on attempts from NICOLE KOGUT and Pam Breitenbach inside 20 minutes remaining in regulation.

In the second overtime, Montclair State had the first chance to win the game, but Turner came up with a save on Breitenbach's shot with 5:36 to play. The Roadrunners then missed their opportunity with 1:16 left as Amy Ketchersid (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant) flipped a shot that Kuhmann got a piece of before trickling over the end line.

Ramapo outshot MSU, 20-18, however the Red Hawks held a 11-3 advantage in cornerkicks. The Red Hawks return to action on Wednesday, October 5 as they travel to Drew University for a 7:00 pm kickoff.
