Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Anthes' Goal Leads Men's Soccer Past Rowan, 1-0

Glassboro, NJ (10/15/05) – Junior BILL ANTHES scored the lone goal in the 34th minute as Montclair State bounced back from its loss to Richard Stockton with a 1-0 win over Rowan on Saturday afternoon.

The win helped the Red Hawks up their record to 9-5-1 on the season, 3-3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The victory marked only the third time since 1989 that Montclair has defeated the Profs. MSU posted a 1-0 victory in 2003 and all three wins over Rowan in the last 16 years have come in Glassboro.

Montclair State also avenged a 1-0 loss to the Profs in the 2004 NJAC Tournament semifinals.

EDGARD DINTEN, the goalkeeper in the 2003 victory, stopped four shots as he made his first start of the season. The shutout was the senior's fourth career shutout.

Meanwhile, Anthes provided the offense as he notched his team-leading ninth goal of the season and fourth game-winning tally of the year. At the 33:08 mark, Anthes fired a shot on net that deflected off a Rowan defender for the only score of the game.

Rowan's Anthony Clemente also stopped four shots as the Profs outshot MSU, 9-7.

The Red Hawks return to action on Wednesday, October 19 as they play their final non-conference contest of the season. MSU will travel to Kings Point, NY to face the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at 7:30 pm.
