New Paltz, NY (10/19/05) – Sophomore Jen Tanis (right) scored a pair of goals as 11th-ranked Montclair State downed New Paltz, 3-1, for their seventh sixth straight win on Wednesday evening.
KARLI TROISI had a goal and an assist for the Red Hawks, who improved to 13-1 on the season. Jacqueline Stokes scored the lone goal for New Paltz (4-10).
Tanis, who collected her fourth multiple-goal outing of her career, put MSU on the board at 13:56 as she scored off an assist from
ALEXANDRIA KELLY. Just under 10 minutes later, Troisi scored her third of the season.
KRISTEN SWARTZ picked up the assist as Montclair State took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Tanis gave Montclair a three-goal cushion as he recorded her eighth goal of the season with Troisi picking up the assist.
Stokes broke the shutout with 6:40 to play as converted a pass from Jacqueline Sisco.
ROBYN APICELLI made four saves as she picked up her 25th career victory and 200th career save. Nicole Kovac had 11 saves for New Paltz, which was outshot in the game 22-5.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, October 22 as they host fifth-ranked The College of New Jersey at Sprague Field (1:00 pm).
