JONATHAN ARTHUR posted a double-double with 28 points and 15 rebounds as Montclair State posted a third-place finish with an 80-61 victory over Plattsburgh State in the Consolation Game of the Steve Adubato One-on-One Classic at Panzer Gymnasium on Friday afternoon.

MAURICE TORRES had 21 points and five rebounds for the Red Hawks(4-5), who used a 23-2 run midway through the second half to secure its victory. Arthur was named to the All-Tournament Team as was Plattsburgh's Anthony Williams, who had 15 points for the Cardinals (5-4).
Plattsburgh led 31-29at halftime as Jerrad Dumont hit a shot at the buzzer. In the second half, the game was tied eight times and the lead changed hands five times before the Red Hawks took control. Tied at 55-55,Torres hit a short jumper to ignite a 16-0 run and later added a three-pointer as MSU took a 62-55 lead with 7:02 remaining.
JAMAL FORD scored five of the next seven points and then assisted on a dunk by Arthur as the Red Hawks increased their lead to 71-55with 4:04 to play. Kris Gibbs-Smith broke the run with alayup, but Arthur hit a three and Torres made two free throws tocap the burst for Montclair State.
GIAN PAUL GONZALEZ had a double-double with 19 points and 10rebounds for the Red Hawks, who shot 59 percent (17-of-29) in the second half. Gonzalez, who became the 23rd player in MSU history to reach the 1,000-point mark on Thursday, moved into 19th place and now has 1,027 points in his two-plus season with Montclair.Ford finished with nine points, four rebounds, seven assists and two blocked shots.
Gibbs-Smith had 15points and six rebounds for the Cardinals, who struggled in the second half, shooting 22 percent (6-of-27) and finished the game19-of-63 from the field. Antwane Miller had 10 points and four rebounds.
Montclair State returned to action on Wednesday, January 4 as the Red Hawks travel to Camden,NJ to take the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden at 8:00 pm.
