Women's Lacrosse Drops Second Straight

West Palm Beach, FL (3/17/05) - The Montclair State women's lacrosse team closed out their two-game Florida trip with a 13-10 loss to Dickinson on Thursday morning. The loss was MSU's second dropping the Red Hawks record to 2-2.

BRIANNA GILLIN had five goals for Montclair State, which saw Dickinson score five straight goals, snapping an early 1-1 tie. NICOLE ROSELLE had two goals and one assist while JENNIFER TANIS had a goal and two assists for Montclair.

Dickinson's Kelsey Oldendorp gave the Red Devils a 1-0 lead 68 seconds in to the game, however, Tanis tied the game at the 1:45 mark with an unassisted tally.

Dickinson then went on its 5-0 run as Katie Austin, who finished with six goals in the game, score at 2:27 for a 2-1 margin. Morgan Kelly extended the lead to two goals at 9:57 and Oldendorp's second marker made the lead, 4-1. Austin scored back-to-back over the next four minutes as Dickinson built and 6-2 lead.

Montclair State would get within 7-5 as Roselle notched her first scores and ERIN BALINT found the back of the net at 25:14 to cut the lead to two. Caitlin Blair scored with five seconds left before half, giving the Red Devils an 8-5 lead.

In the second half, Austin and Kendra Daniel scored within the first three minutes to push the Dickinson lead to 10-5. Montclair State would mount a rally as NICOLE LAROCCA scored at the 39:19 mark and Gillin had three straight to make the score, 10-9 with 16:32 to play.

But Dickinson countered with a three-goal spurt as Austin scored twice, including the eventual game-winner at 46:38. Lesley Oot had the other goal in the run.

Julie Hunter had nine saves for Dickinson before Gabby Joffie came in an made one stop in the final 10 minutes. KRISTEN KUHMANN and JENN BOGIN had 11 saves combined for MSU, which was outshot in the game, 24-17.

The Red Hawks return to action on Tuesday, March 22 as they travel to Allentown, PA to face Muhlenberg College at 4:00 pm.
