BRIANNA GILLIN scored four goals and assisted on two others as Montclair State closed out its regular season with an 18-6 win over Eastern (PA) University at Sprague Field on Monday afternoon.
NICOLE LAROCCA and
ANN DAILY each added three goals for the Red Hawks (10-4), who scored 13 goals over the final 22 minutes of the first half to pull away from the Eagles (8-6). Kate Hoy had three goals and three assists for Eastern.
Hoy scored the Eagles' first three goals, the final one coming 7:41 into the game tying the score at 3-3. Montclair then answered with three goals over the next three minutes to take a 6-3 lead. Gillin put the Red Hawks in front and LaRocca added a goal at the 10:15 mark before
BETHANY BLAINE scored off a Gillin assist 29 seconds later. Julianne Ferguson got a goal back for Eastern to cut the lead to two (6-4), however, Montclair countered with a seven-goal outburst to put the game away.
Gillin started the run with her third goal at 13:35 and Daily netted two of the next three to make the score 10-4.
ERIN BALINT and LaRocca got unassisted goals inside 10 minutes before Daily capped the run with her third tally with 7:31 left as MSU took a 13-4 lead. Nicole Dorflinger, who finished with two goals, snapped the streak with a goal at 24:36, however Gillin and
NICOLE ROSELLE scored 33 seconds apart with less then four minutes before half as MSU took a 15-5 lead into intermission.
SHAUNA BROCKLEBANK had two goals and two assists for MSU while Blaine also had two goals. LaRocca added an assist and had 10 draw controls as she tied Kristen Miskey's single-game school record. Goalkeepers

JENN BOGIN each played a half with Bogin making three stops over the final 30 minutes.
Julia Gill had four saves for the Eagles, who were outshot, 27-14 in the game.
The Red Hawks now set their sights on the Knickerbocker Conference Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, April 27. MSU, the No. 2 seed will host third-seeded Kean University at Sprague Field in a 4:00 pm start. The winner will face either top-seeded Stevens or No. 4 Manhattanville in the championships game on Saturday, April 30. Montclair defeated the Cougars, 11-8 in Union back on April 16.
