BRIANNA GILLIN collected 10 points on six goals and four assists as Montclair State won its fifth straight, taking its Knickerbocker Women's Lacrosse Conference opener with a 19-6 win over Manhattanville at Sprague Field on Thursday afternoon.
BETHANY BLAINE (right) added three goals while
ANN DAILY had two goals and three assists as the Red Hawks improved to 7-2 overall. Cory Alcorn (Orangeville, Ontario) had four goals for the Valiants (2-4, 0-2 KWLC), who dropped their third straight.
Tied at 2-2, Montclair State recorded the final four goals of the first half to take a 6-2 lead.
NICOLE LAROCCA put the Red Hawks with 15:34 to play and Gillin scored her second of the half for a 4-2 advantage.
ERIN BALINT scored 57 second later for three-goal cushion and Daily capped the half with her first goal with just over four minutes before the break.
In the second half, LaRocca's third goal put Montclair in front, 9-3, but Manhattanville would creep back as Alcorn scored a pair of goals just 12 second apart to cut the deficit to four. Gillin and Jen Tanis put in scores 52 seconds apart 10 minutes in to make the score 11-5 and after Alcorn's final goal with 14:48 to play, Montclair scored the final eight goals, including three by Gillin and two by
SHAUNA BROCKLEBANK.

KRISTEN KUHMANN made 15 saves while counterpart Katie Hand had d seven stops for Manhattanville.
The Red Hawks outshot the Valiants, 29-24. The Red Hawks return to action on Wednesday, April 13 as they host two-time defending conference champion Stevens Tech at 7:00 pm.
