Elizabethtown, PA (9/11/05) – Elizabethtown captured the championship of its 2005 Blue Jay Classic Tournament Sunday with a 2-0 win over Montclair State. The Blue Jays improved to 2-1-1 overall with the win while Montclair State suffered its first loss of the season and is now 4-1. In the consolation game, Mary Washington picked up its first win of the season in a 3-2 victory over Wesley ( Del.).

After a scoreless first half in the Etown-MSU game, the Blue Jays got on the scoreboard 58:54 into the game when Brian Raveling scored off a Rick Winstanley assist. It was the first goal allowed by the Red Hawks in nearly 350 minutes of play. MSU had not surrendered a goal since the 73rd minute of the season opener on September 3.

Etown scored again with 12:01 left in the game when Brian Healy was fouled in the box. He took the resulting penalty kick and scored on it.

Montclair State out-shot Elizabethtown 15-12 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Etown goalie A.J. Fleisher made five saves in the shutout effort, while MSU goalie CHRIS OWEN made four saves.

The Red Hawks return to action on Wednesday, September 14 as they host the Bloodhounds of John Jay College at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
