Montclair, NJ (9/18/05) - Junior PAMELA BREITENBACH and senior Kaylan Van Brookhoven each scored a goal as Montclair State handed Ferrum College its first loss of the season with a 2-0 victory at MSU Soccer Park on Sunday afternoon.

LAUREN KOWALSKI and freshman Eliza Urciouli each recorded assists as the Red Hawks dominated in improving to 2-4 on the year. Sarah Hutzler made 10 saves in the second half for the Panthers, who fell to 5-1-1.

Montclair State, which outshot Ferrum 33-3 in the game got the only score it would need at the 14 minute mark. Off a corner kick, Kowalski flipped a pass from the left side in front to Breitenbach, who flicked in the shot for her first tally of the season.

The Red Hawks extended the lead to two goals with 2:25 remaining before halftime. Off another corner kick Urciouli picked up the loose ball and slipped a pass to Van Brookhoven for her first goal of the year.

Kristen Kuhmann made a pair of saves as she registered her second shutout of the season and 12th career blanking.

Hutzler made all of her stops as she played the final 45 minutes. Elizabeth Haines had seven saves in the first half.

Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, September 21 as they travel to conference and local rival William Paterson for a 7:00 pm start. Ferrum returns home to begin a three-game homestand. The Panthers will face Mary Baldwin College on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
