HEATHER ACIZ collected 17 kills and 26 digs as Montclair State snapped its two-match losing streak with a four-set victory over John Jay College in NCAA Division III Volleyball action at Panzer Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
JULIANA FERDINAND had nine kills, four aces and 12 digs for the Red Hawks, who climbed to within a game of the .500 mark at 6-7. Takeisha Diaz had 11 kills and 13 digs for the Bloodhounds, who fell to 3-6 with the loss.
Montclair State won the first game, 30-22 before John Jay evend the match with a 30-25 victory in Game No. 2. The Red Hawks then closed out the match with triumphs in the final two games, 30-26 and 30-16.
MELISSA CIACCIO had 42 assists and 11 digs for MSU, which also got six kills, six digs and three blocks from
ZAIRY RAMOS.
Meredith McGinnis had eight kills and 13 digs for John Jay while Chiara Baruffaldi registered 27 assists.
Montclair State returns to action on Tuesday, September 27 as they travel to NJAC rival Jersey City to take on the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University at 7:00 pm . John Jay will host Baruch College on the same day with that CUNY matchup beginning at 6:00 pm.
